National award winning columnist Kelli Wheeler has come up with a winning blend of observational humor, personal anecdotes and inspiring messages with her monthly and weekly family columns and blog. Whether read in print or on the internet, Momservations and A Tale of Two Mommies have created camaraderie with thousands of parents everywhere who laugh, commiserate and even cry right along with Wheeler on her parental journey.
Wheeler's co-authored weekly column, A Tale of Two Mommies, run for a year by The Sacramento Bee on SacMomsClub.com won 2009 Best Online Column from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Pairing with friend and full-time working mother, Jen Hall, their column presented dueling perspectives, but a united front on parenthood. Together in coffee shop style banter they covered current topics ranging from the debate on working vs. stay-at-home mothers to how to survive a family vacation.
Wheeler’s monthly column Momservations (formerly Parent Tales), published by Inside Publications, candidly highlights parenthood topics like learning to roll with life's punches in “Pity Party, Anyone?”; enjoying the journey in Daddy's restored VW Bus in "The Bus Stops Here"; and a poignant farewell to a beloved family pet in “Good-bye, My Fuzzy Baby.”
Wheeler became a published columnist in early 2004 for Inside Publications, a community newspaper reaching thousands of readers that includes influential community leaders and powerful decision makers in Sacramento city and county. Her column was immediately "discovered" by California First Lady, Maria Shriver who retained her freelance services. In 2008 Wheeler became a Featured Blogger and weekly columnist for The Sacramento Bee's online community, SacMomsClub.com, helping the major newspaper establish an online presence.
In 2008 Wheeler created Momservations®, humorous mom observations in a still evolving mom career.
